You often ask me whether it is safe to perform professional facial treatments in the summer and is it necessary?

Many people still believe that in the summer they should not undergo cosmetological treatments and this often leads to neglect of the skin condition.

Of course, it is not true and carefully selected care during the summer period can bring your skin a lot of good.

The choice of professional beauty treatments in summer should depend on the current needs of the skin, because they may change throughout the year.

Thanks to the appropriate treatments, your skin will look healthier, it will be protected against the harmful effects of UV rays, it will be moisturized and will stay in perfect condition after the end of summer.

So what treatments are safe and worth performing in the summer?

Certainly, treatment with vitamin C – treatments with vitamin C prevent the harmful effects of UV radiation, inhibit tyrosinase (takes part in the production of the pigment), and thus affect the brightening of pigmented lesions, and by participating in the formation of collagen and elastin, it increases the firmness of the skin.

Vitamin C has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and is a powerful antioxidant, so it neutralizes free radicals (substances that destroy cells, resulting in an aging skin that loses its firmness, healthy appearance).

The effects after the treatment are immediate, no time for regeneration is needed, and it is not irritating.

The next group are cleansing and moisturizing treatments. One such treatment is Hydrafacial and it is an undisputed favourite among my clients.

It should be noted that hydrogen is the smallest molecule and has the ability to reach the deeper layers of the skin, but above all it is a strong antioxidant and neutralizes free radicals.

Hydrafacial combines what is most important in skin care – deep cleansing, oxygenation, nourishment, and hydration.

To prevent dehydration of the skin during hot days, apart from drinking large amounts of water, it is necessary to constantly supply the skin with ingredients that will bind the water in the epidermis, such as hyaluronic acid, and reduce its trans epidermal loss.

Hydrating treatments should be used in parallel with exfoliating treatments, because in order to obtain a high concentration of moisturizing ingredients in the deep layers of the epidermis, the number of cell layers through which they must penetrate should be reduced.

Another myth that I want to debunk today is that we should not undergo chemical peels from April to September. Nothing could be more wrong.

Nowadays, professional cosmetology has chemical peels in nanotechnology, but, importantly, not every chemical peel has photosensitivity.

Good exfoliating peelings for summer are Azelaic Acid and Ferulic Acid because they are not phototoxic and therefore do not increase the skin’s sensitivity to UV radiation. In addition, both acids do not cause the peeling of the epidermis.

Peels are stimulating the renewal of the epidermis, brightens the skin and Ferulic Acid is also a strong antioxidant.

Needle mesotherapy is another procedure that is so often overlooked in the summer, and it brings spectacular effects of moisturizing after just one treatment. In needle mesotherapy, we inject serums and they are rich in hyaluronic acid, vitamins, micro and macro elements and amino acids.

The summer period is not a contraindication to Mesotherapy, however, you must remember about high sun protection.

Carefully selected series of treatments aimed at strengthening the natural sun protection, regeneration, cleansing and hydration of the skin bring visible results, and because in summer we often give up makeup, healthy-looking skin should be a priority in everyday skin care goals.
