Have you ever wondered where to store skin care?

To get the most of your products in a healthy, cosmetologist – approved way follow these smart steps for keeping them safe and sound.

You should never store your skin care products in the bathroom or on a windowsill!

Your bathroom is the most likely place that you keep the majority of your skin care products. Unfortunately, this is not the optimal place to keep them for a variety of reasons.

If you take a second to think about all that goes on in your bathroom, you will realize that it is full of bacteria!

Every time you take a hot shower or bath the heat, warm temperature and steam makes your bathroom an oasis for these bacteria to multiply and grow…

Warm temperature and sun light can cause certain ingredients to break down, oxidize, curdle, or melt. Therefore, the best option is to store them in cool, dry places and out of direct sunlight. It will also help them to last longer after opening.

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO STORE SKIN CARE PRODUCTS THEN?

Well it all depends on what type of product it is.

Vitamin C and Retinoids (Retinol) are heat and light sensitive meaning they break down and oxidize faster if stored in places with a lot of light and heat. To ensure longer product life, these should be stored in the FRIDGE.

Anything that has live-active cultures should definitely go in the fridge.

Also, natural/ organic skin care should be kept in the fridge.

But if you are storing them in your kitchen fridge make sure that they are sealed properly. Consider using sealed bags as the last thing you want is your Vitamin C smell like a chicken.

Creams, oil based products, other serums and masks– the most ideal place to store these skin care products is in a cool, dry place that’s out of direct sunlight, like in a cabinet, drawer or lidded storage box in your bedroom.

Do you have your own rules where to store your skin care products?
